City Terrace, in 1931 & Today.

Thank you to Forgotten Los Angeles.

City Terrace, in 1931 & Today.
These were taken at City Terrace Dr & North Hicks Ave, back when this section of City Terrace Drive was named Ramona Boulevard. As you can see in the modern views that are interspersed, most of what is photographed here is still standing.
City Terrace was developed by Walter Leimert in the 1920s, just shortly before the development of Leimert Park. At that time, City Terrace was primarily a Jewish neighborhood, with a small Russian, Japanese, and Mexican population as well.
Very surprised to see Lipton Tea advertised at the Fish Market, as I’d always thought was a product of the 1950s, but learned today that Lipton started in Scotland in 1890.
