Wrigley Field, Los Angeles 1925-1965

Wrigley Field, Los Angeles, 1925-1965.
1930s, View of Wrigley Field, located in South Los Angeles at the intersection of 42nd Place and Avalon Boulevard, showcasing its multi-story clock tower on the left. In the foreground, a concession stand features a large sign reading: "Auto Park 15¢."

From 1925 to 1957, the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League were the primary tenants of Wrigley Field. Owned by William Wrigley Jr., who also owned the Chicago Cubs, the team played at the ballpark until moving to Spokane, WA, after the Dodgers relocated to Los Angeles. The Hollywood Stars, another Pacific Coast League team, shared Wrigley Field with the Angels from 1926 to 1935 and again in 1938 before moving to Gilmore Field. In 1961, the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball played their inaugural season at Wrigley Field. The Angels moved to Dodger Stadium (shared with the Dodgers) in 1962 and then to Anaheim Stadium in 1966.  Water & Power MuseumThank you to Jack Feldman.

"Erected in 1925 at 42nd Place and Avalon Blvd., Wrigley Field was a 21,000-seat, home-run hitters paradise. It also doubled as the set for such films as "Pride of the "Yankees", "Dam Yankees" and "Alibi Ike" and the "Home Run Derby" television show.*"

1951Ever wondered what happens when a major league baseball player decides to chase his dreams in Hollywood? Meet Chuck Conners, known as "The Rifleman," who stepped up to the plate with the Cubs in 1951. In his 214 at-bats, he managed a .239 average and knocked out 2 home runs. But his story didn’t end on the diamond. Conners traded his baseball glove for a Hollywood career, becoming a television legend. What led him to this dramatic change, and how did he make his mark in Tinseltown? Thanks to Sofia Russo Conti.
