Charlen and Dad, 1950. Charlen is holding a large drawing pencil in her right hand and the cut-out almost of a Victorian looking Santa Claus. Due to the roses in bloom, I am guessing this is springtime, 1950. And it was to Charlen that my dad wrote a postcard in 1951 from a weekend retreat at the Serra Catholic retreat in the Malibu hills.
