Dad always loved the rolltop, secretarial desks. Aunt Nell in Brighton had one, maybe two, and I remember Dad touching the wood examining the desk and the executive powers of the furniture and how he lamented that he wished he'd always have one.
The other desk that Dad loved was his old school desk. As part of the legend that Dad relayed about the desk, images of old school house in Los Angeles near the Coliseum come to mind. I know his sister attended Manual Arts and that he may have attended night school there but I can't recall the elementary school he attended.
